Most of the UK market titles are relatively small-budget independent films. The Works has picked up Andrew Piddington’s The Killing of John Lennon starring Jonas Ball as Mark Chapman. Swipe Films will be promoting its satire Jackboots On Whitehall, with cast including Ewan McGregor and Alan Cumming.
High Point Films has Irish/UK co-production Kings, directed by Tom Collins, about Irish emigrants who return home for a funeral. ContentFilm is introducing Scottish-set horror Outpost, which is still in production, while Carnaby has crime epic Rise Of The Footsoldier, in production from BAFTA nominees Julian and William Gilbey.
InFame has Brendan Foley’s finished thriller The Riddle starring Vinnie Jones, Derek Jacobi and Vanessa Redgrave. In the Berlinale official co-production market, Oscar winner Mia Bays is working with US co-producer on Joe Dante’s The Man With Kaleidoscope Eyes.
